Research Program: Re-examining Democracy in Uganda
Aimed at re-examining the nature of Uganda ’s democracy in the present political economy context in comparison with the known tenets of democracy globally with a specific focus to:
(i) The state sovereign
(ii) The government ( including Institutions and Local Governments)
(iii) Political parties
(v) The people
Campaign Against lifting of Age limits
On August 25 2016, Hon) Kafeero Sekitoleko, Member of Parliament (MP) for Nafuma Constituency, Mukono district, presented a motion in the Parliament of Uganda seeking leave to introduce a motion to amend the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and increase the retirement age of judges (Article 144) and remove term limits for the commissioners appointed to the Electoral Commission (Article 60).
The motion was seconded by MP Paul Amoru, the Member of Parliament for Dokolo North County, Dokolo District.
